Senior Software Engineer

OCLC is a technology company focused on connecting libraries and making knowledge accessible worldwide. They are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design, develop, and support scalable cloud-based applications that serve libraries and their users around the globe.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain complex software solutions within the Cloud Library platform
• Build high-quality, scalable, secure, and maintainable applications across front-end and back-end systems
• Develop and enhance cloud-native services and APIs supporting business-critical applications
• Participate in all phases of software development, including requirements analysis, architecture, coding, testing, deployment, and support
• Contribute to modernization initiatives and continuous improvement of systems and processes
• Provide technical expertise and guidance to engineering team members
• Participate in architecture discussions and technical design reviews
• Mentor junior and mid-level engineers through collaboration, code reviews, and knowledge sharing
• Promote engineering best practices, design patterns, and coding standards
• Help identify technical debt and recommend strategic improvements
• Conduct code reviews and ensure adherence to quality, security, and performance standards
• Support CI/CD processes and DevOps practices to enable reliable software delivery
• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues while participating in operational support activities
• Participate in monitoring, observability, and incident response efforts
• Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure successful delivery of business objectives

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline, and/or equivalent professional experience
• 5+ years of professional software development experience
• Strong experience developing scalable web applications and distributed systems
• Experience working with cloud platforms, preferably Microsoft Azure
• Experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs and microservices
• Strong proficiency in one or more modern programming languages such as Java, C#, JavaScript, TypeScript, or Node.js
• Experience working with relational database technologies
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
• Experience with cloud-native application architecture and distributed systems
• Experience supporting highly available, customer-facing SaaS applications
• Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
• Experience with modern front-end frameworks such as React or Angular
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments
• Experience leveraging AI-assisted development tools to improve engineering productivity and code quality
