Langan Engineering & Environmental Services is a leading firm in land development engineering and environmental consulting. They are seeking an Environmental Permitting & Compliance Engineer or Scientist to support compliance projects involving various environmental regulations and permitting processes.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and support multi-media environmental permitting and compliance programs across air, water, wastewater, stormwater, waste, spill prevention, storage tanks, and EPCRA requirements
- Provide regulatory interpretation and strategy, permitting, and compliance support for a wide variety of clients
- Prepare and submit environmental permit applications, compliance reports, emissions inventories, and technical documentation to support regulatory obligations and operational objectives
- Conduct environmental compliance audits, inspections, gap assessments, and program reviews to evaluate regulatory compliance and identify improvement opportunities
- Develop and support implementation and management of various monitoring and spill prevention and contingency plans/programs (SPCC, FRP, SPR, SWPPP, Hazardous Waste Contingency Plans, TOMP, Slug Control, etc.)
- Provide field support, site assessments, sampling, and technical assistance for ongoing client operations and environmental projects
- Provide support for air projects, focusing on emissions calculations, permit preparation, NESHAP/NSPS compliance, annual reporting (Title V, GHG, etc.), emissions monitoring, stationary and mobile source air modeling, and other air quality related tasks
- Provide regulatory strategy, permitting, and compliance support for water resources programs nationwide, including NPDES and general permits, drinking water compliance, surface water and groundwater withdrawal permitting, wastewater and pretreatment programs, and water reuse initiatives; and
- Perform other duties, fieldwork, sampling and special projects as assigned
Requirements:
- BS degree in environmental science or engineering, or closely related field
- 2 to 5 years of experience focused on regulatory compliance and environmental permitting
- 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical, multitasking, and judgment capabilities
- Ability to effectively work independently and in a team environment
- Availability to work Monday through Friday with occasional evenings and weekends
- Possess reliable transportation for client meetings and job site visits and a valid driver's license in good standing
- Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel and other related software
- Master's degree preferred
- Consulting experience preferred
- Working knowledge of Air Modeling Software, AERMOD, ProMax, a plus
