Renaissance Life & Health Insurance Company of America is hiring an experienced Data Platform Engineer to join their growing team. The Data Platform Engineer will help scale the data platform, design and build integration layers, and ensure the platform supports AI and machine learning initiatives.
Responsibilities:
- Design and implement the integration layer between the Microsoft Fabric platform and Azure services, including Azure API Management, Azure Data Factory, Event Hubs, and Azure Databricks
- Define data contracts, API standards, and integration patterns that enable partner development teams to self-serve against the platform
- Establish scalable platform architecture that can be extended as organizational needs evolve
- Partner with the AI Manager to ensure the data platform supports current and future AI and machine learning initiatives
- Build and maintain robust data pipelines using Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Factory, and related data platform tooling
- Implement data quality, governance, and lineage practices across the platform
- Drive platform reliability and performance by proactively identifying and resolving bottlenecks
- Evaluate and recommend tools, technologies, and process improvements that advance the data platform roadmap
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Five or more years of experience in data engineering, platform engineering, or a related technical role
- Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure, including Azure Data Factory, Azure API Management, Azure Synapse, or related services
- Experience designing integration architectures, data contracts, and platform patterns for use by external or partner development teams
- Experience with data modeling, pipeline orchestration, and scalable data infrastructure
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across engineering, data, product, and business teams
- Ability to operate with autonomy, sound judgment, and a solution-oriented mindset
- Willingness to learn and adopt new tools, technologies, and process improvements, including automation or AI-enabled solutions
- Uses AI tools responsibly within company, security, and compliance guidelines
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, data engineering, or a related field preferred
