Senior Software Engineer

Simplify Compliance is seeking a remote Senior Software Engineer (PHP) to help maintain, improve and extend their established environmental, health, and safety (EHS) compliance platform. The role involves working directly with product and engineering teammates to ensure the platform remains reliable and continuously improving.

Responsibilities:

• Maintain and enhance the BasicSafe application
• Design, build, and ship new features across the stack
• Write clean, well-structured, maintainable code
• Contribute to gradually modernizing the codebase
• Develop and consume REST APIs and integrations between application components and services
• Write and optimize MySQL queries and schema changes, using safe, parameterized data
• Collaborate with product managers, QA, and fellow engineers to translate requirements into technical solutions
• Participate in code reviews, uphold coding standards, and help improve team practices and documentation
• Additional duties as assigned

Requirements:

• 5+ years of professional software development experience, with strong, hands-on PHP expertise
• Experience maintaining and enhancing large PHP web applications, including legacy systems
• Strong MySQL skills, including query optimization and database design
• Solid object-oriented PHP knowledge with experience in legacy codebases
• Proficiency in Javascript, jQuery, and modern frameworks
• Proficient with Git and collaborative development workflows
• Strong debugging, problem-solving, and remote collaboration skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Vue.js preferred; Quasar a plus
