Job Summary
We are seeking a Senior Linux / Android HAL / VHAL Developer to develop and maintain the Hardware Abstraction Layer (HAL) and Vehicle Hardware Abstraction Layer (VHAL) for Android Automotive OS (AAOS). The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in embedded Linux, Android internals, and automotive software development, enabling seamless communication between Android and vehicle hardware systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain Android HAL and Vehicle HAL (VHAL) components for Android Automotive OS (AAOS).
- Develop embedded Linux software for automotive platforms and ECUs.
- Implement and customize Android Hardware Abstraction Layer (HAL) interfaces.
- Develop Vehicle HAL (VHAL) services to expose vehicle properties such as speed, HVAC, battery status, fuel level, steering, lighting, and door controls to Android applications.
- Integrate Android Framework with vehicle ECUs through middleware and communication protocols.
- Work closely with BSP, kernel, middleware, application, and HMI teams.
- Develop and optimize Linux device drivers and system services.
- Debug system-level issues using Logcat, ADB, GDB, Perf, Systrace, and Linux debugging tools.
- Optimize system performance, memory usage, boot time, and power consumption.
- Support hardware bring-up, platform integration, and feature validation.
- Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, and technical documentation.
- Ensure compliance with automotive quality, security, and coding standards.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electronics, Embedded Systems, or related field.
- 5+ years of embedded software development experience.
- 3+ years of Android Automotive (AAOS/AOSP) development experience.
- Strong experience with Embedded Linux development.
- Hands-on experience developing Android HAL and Vehicle HAL (VHAL).
- Strong programming skills in C/C++.
- Experience with Java and basic Kotlin for Android integration.
- Good understanding of Android Framework architecture and Android system services.
- Experience with Linux Kernel, device drivers, and BSP development.
- Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills.

Preferred Qualifications
