Mechanical Engineer

Nexis Builds is an engineering company that focuses on innovative design and construction solutions. They are seeking a Remote Mechanical Engineer to contribute to the design, analysis, and coordination of mechanical systems for various building projects while enjoying the flexibility of remote work.

Responsibilities:

• Create 3D models, technical drawings, and detailed blueprints using industry-standard CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Revit, or similar)
• Develop HVAC system layouts, mechanical piping designs, and structural mechanical components for various building projects
• Ensure designs meet engineering codes, project specifications, and safety regulations
• Revise designs based on feedback from architects, project managers, and other engineers
• Perform Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to evaluate the strength, durability, and stress points of mechanical components
• Conduct Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations to analyze airflow, heat transfer, and ventilation efficiency in buildings
• Utilize thermal analysis techniques to optimize HVAC systems and ensure energy efficiency
• Identify potential design weaknesses and suggest improvements before implementation
• Assist with procurement of mechanical materials and components, ensuring compliance with industry standards
• Prepare technical reports, calculations, and specifications for project documentation
• Work closely with civil engineers, electrical engineers, and construction teams to align mechanical systems with broader project goals
• Keep track of project timelines, budgets, and material orders to ensure seamless execution
• Provide expert recommendations on material selection, HVAC solutions, and mechanical system optimizations
• Ensure mechanical designs comply with local building codes, industry regulations, and environmental standards
• Assist clients and contractors in troubleshooting mechanical system challenges during construction and installation
• Travel to project sites when necessary to conduct inspections, assess installations, and ensure designs are correctly implemented
• Collaborate with on-site teams to solve real-time engineering challenges
• Provide hands-on technical support when adjustments to mechanical systems are required during construction

Requirements:

• Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
• 2+ years in mechanical design, FEA/CFD analysis, HVAC systems, or construction-related projects
• Strong skills in CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Revit, or similar)
• Strong skills in FEA software (ANSYS, Abaqus, or similar)
• Strong skills in CFD tools (Fluent, OpenFOAM, or similar)
• Ability to produce accurate technical documents and reports
• Strong skills in remote teamwork, problem-solving, and cross-functional coordination
• Willingness to travel occasionally to project sites for inspections and hands-on collaboration
