Instrument Tech MPU

General Description:

The Instrument & Controls Technician position is responsible for carrying out planned

or unplanned maintenance and repair activities for Facilities on a wide range of

electrical equipment, process control, and/or safety systems.

Essential Duties & Job Functions:

• Calibrates, tests, troubleshoots, and repairs various devices and control loops
• (pneumatic, hydraulic, electronic, analog, and digital devices involving the
• measurement of temperature, level and flow of fluids found within the petroleum
• industry).
• Troubleshoots and maintains relay logic systems, PLCs, turbine controls, compressor surge flow totalizing loops, air drying systems, local and remote annunciators, gas/oil fired heaters and re-boilers, and valves of varying designs and manufacturers.
• Works with tubing and piping fittings from vacuum to high pressures to exceed 5,000 psi, and electrical circuits with potentials up to 50 volts.
• Uses various types of test equipment.
• Reads, uses and updates electrical, electronic, piping and instrument drawings
• and schematics.
• Provides written and oral documentation of job status.
• Routinely performs safety and productivity observations; shop, field and vehicle inspections; and is required to attend various components of technical, developmental and safety training.

• Participating in safety meetings, working safely, and maintaining a safe work environment as an employee and representative of CCI Industrial Services.
• Document and record any injury or near miss incident that may occur while you
• are working.
• Demonstrate and promote safe work practices by participating in JSA reviews, pre-job walkdowns and safety START card preparations covering work activities and materials required by the company and the client.
• Promote and participate in Safety Programs.
• Other duties as assigned. 

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Monitor, maintain, and repair automation, instrumentation, and control system
• Capable of performing manlift operations.
• Respond to equipment breakdowns and participate in Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) investigations to determine root cause.
• Perform preventative maintenance as driven by the work management system and provide quality detail and feedback to work completed and discovered.
• Provide oversite of contractor work, ensuring compliance with company and regulatory requirements.
• Work with engineering to evaluate maintenance program performance and pursue predictive maintenance analytics.
• Monitor, maintain, and repair process control systems for a gas & oil treating and water injection facilities including large electric-driven compressors, heater treaters and stabilizers, TEG dehydration units, water injection pumps, separation, LACT skids, and product tankage.
• Experience working in Emerson Delta V control system Oil and Gas Custody transfer metering and proving systems including quality bank
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, job descriptions, safety manuals and safety/warning signs
• Ability to write simple correspondence.
• Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to clients and other employees and give and receive oral safety warnings and instructions.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram
• Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving

mechanical parts, high or precarious places, and risk of electrical shock. The noise

level in the work environment is usually moderate. Hearing protection and the use of

safety eyewear is required in most working situations. Position may be exposed to

extremely harsh weather conditions at times while working outdoors. The company

provides arctic / cold weather gear.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Driver License with no restrictions
• 4 + years proficiency with mechanical equipment and automation/instrumentation
• systems
• NSTC Card

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with work management systems (SAP, Maximo, or similar)
• Arctic experience is preferred.
• Oilfield Experience is preferred.
