Research Coordinator II (Bilingual Spanish)- Pediatrics - Nutrition

Summary

We are recruiting a research coordinator to support clinical research at a metabolic research laboratory at the USDA/ARS Children's Nutrition Research Center at Baylor College of Medicine.  The individual will provide research coordination to a productive research program and interact with multiple team members and research participants. The candidate will follow established guidelines and support the PI and research team in coordination of research activities, will maintain regulatory documents, recruit research participants, and execute research protocol procedures. 

Job Duties

• Coordination of research activities and performance of metabolic studies and clinical trials. 35%
• Responsible for recruitment of research participants, consenting and scheduling of research activities. 35%
• Responsible for maintenance of research database. 7.5%
• Coordination with nursing unit schedule to accommodate research needs of research participants.5%
• Submission of research protocols for regulatory agencies (IRB; research units). 5%
• Maintenance of regulatory binders 2.5%
• Shipment of specimen to labs as needed in coordination with study staff members.2.5%
• Education of participants in significant aspects of study. 5%
• Serves as a liaison and distributes research information to principal investigator, faculty, research staff, and others as required. 2.5%
• Perform other duties as assigned. 

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
• One year of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree preferred.
• Highly motivated individual interested in contributing to a productive research team.
• Two years of relevant clinical research or related experience preferred.
• Bilingual proficiency required.
• Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
• Familiarity with participant recruitment, screening, and informed consent procedures preferred.
• Familiarity with medical conditions and clinical research populations is desirable.
• Experience with phlebotomy, processing and shipping biological specimens, and maintenance of research databases (including REDCap) is preferred.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule to accommodate the needs of participating children and their families, including occasional Saturdays. The research unit is open two Saturdays per month.
