Mechanical Design Engineer

X4 Engineering is a rapidly growing technology company developing large-scale energy infrastructure to support next-generation AI and data center operations. They are looking for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to help design and deploy industry-leading Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). The role involves designing mechanical systems, developing thermal management solutions, and collaborating with engineering teams.

Responsibilities:

• Design mechanical systems for containerized Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)
• Develop and validate thermal management and cooling solutions for battery enclosures
• Support mechanical integration, equipment layouts, service access, and safety requirements
• Evaluate vendor equipment and provide technical design reviews
• Work closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams through design, testing, and field deployment
• Support commissioning, troubleshooting, and continuous product improvements

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
• Experience designing BESS, power electronics, or thermally critical enclosure systems
• Strong understanding of thermal management and cooling system design
• Experience supporting products through testing and field deployment
• Knowledge of NFPA 855 or similar battery storage standards
• Experience reviewing vendor designs and technical documentation
• Lithium-ion battery systems
• CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics)
• Fire suppression systems
• Utility-scale BESS projects
• Data center or mission-critical cooling infrastructure
