Software Engineer Intern

Availity is seeking a motivated and talented Software Engineer Intern to join their engineering team for the Fall 2026 term. The intern will work on real-world projects that directly impact the company's products, gaining valuable experience alongside experienced engineers in an agile environment.

Responsibilities:

• Contributing to software development projects by working on assigned tickets and features
• Assist in the design, development, testing, and deployment of software applications within Availity’s platform
• Learning through hands-on experience with tools and environments (e.g., Airflow, Terraform)
• Demonstrating initiative in problem-solving, self-learning, and seeking clarification when needed
• Writing clean, maintainable, and well-documented code using technologies such as Java, React, and Spring Boot
• Participating in daily agile stand-ups, code reviews, and sprint ceremonies
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including Product and QA, to deliver high-quality features
• Conducting unit and integration testing to ensure software reliability and performance
• Learning about healthcare data exchange standards and compliance considerations (e.g., HIPAA, EDI)

Requirements:

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field
• Strong understanding of computer science fundamentals (data structures, algorithms, OOP)
• Experience with one or more programming languages, such as Java, Python, or JavaScript
• Familiarity with Git or other version control systems
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
• Demonstrated interest in building scalable systems and real-world software applications
• Experience with web development frameworks (e.g., React, Node.js, Django)
• Exposure to cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure)
• Understanding of databases and SQL/NoSQL
• Prior internship or project experience in software development
