Summary

The Hennepin County Attorney's Office (CAO) is seeking a Legal Support Services Office Manager to support both Appeals and Investigations and Intelligence areas, and to create a list for future vacancies across the department. This Legal Support Services Office Manager will provide confidential assistance to the division leaders in the areas of personnel, workload indicators/statistics, high level administrative duties, and day-to-day clerical and administrative support.

Location and hours:
This position is hybrid and will be performed both on-site at Hennepin County Government Center at 300 South 6th Street, Minneapolis, MN 55487, and remote as job duties require. Work hours will be Monday through Friday, with typical hours of 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. While this position is designated as hybrid, based on current requirements hires must reside in or relocate to Minnesota and Wisconsin.

This is a full time, benefit earning position. You must be a current regular or probationary employee of the Hennepin County Attorney's Office to apply for this position. Limited duration employees are not eligible.

In this position, you will:

• Supervise staff to ensure the delivery of high-quality work, including determining priorities, schedules, and assignment of work; and select, train, establish goals and evaluate staff.
• Perform confidential administrative support for the division manager(s)/executive(s).
• Serve as management liaison and directly and indirectly work with various county departments and their upper-level management and division heads; other various legal/law enforcement agencies; various outside agencies and organizations; and all CAO personnel.
• Interpret rules, regulations, and policies to the public, division employees, other Hennepin County departments, and other governmental agencies.
• Make recommendations and implement changes related to organizational structure, practices and procedures of a legal work unit, legal office, and across other Hennepin County departmental lines.
• Resolve and/or delegate unusual or difficult technical problems referred by division/unit staff or determine if additional resources are needed.
• Collect, research, analyze, and prepare reports, manuals, correspondence, and/or statistics.
• Initiate, develop, prepare, lead, and follow through on projects.
• Provide leadership to further department-based strategies that align with county goals, mission and core values for diversity, equity & inclusion.
  
  

Need to have:

• Five or more years of administrative clerical support experience in a legal environment including two years or more of supervisor or lead worker experience.

Nice to have:

• Experience scheduling appointments, arranging calendars and travel, and document production/word processing.
• Experience or education around addressing racial equity, gender equity, LGBTQIA equity, neurodiversity equity, differing ability equity.
• Ability to:
  • Exercise good judgment and resolve problems related to clerical responsibilities of multiple work units in a legal setting.
  • Provide confidential support to division heads and maintain tact and diplomacy when carrying out job duties.
  • Prioritize and have flexibility to switch tasks quickly.
  • Plan, organize, assign, motivate, train, and supervise the work of others.
