The Nevada Department of Transportation is recruiting for Geodesist 2 within the Location Division in Carson City, Nevada. Under general supervision, the Geodesist II is responsible for performing advanced geodetic work, including the analysis, interpretation, and application of geodetic data and methodologies. This position supports projects requiring precise measurements and calculations related to the shape, position, and movement of the earth and its features. The primary duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to; conducting analyses of geodetic survey data, utilizing modern geodetic techniques and equipment, the ability to interpret and process geodetic data, ensuring accuracy and compliance with NDOT standards, preparing reports, CADD mapping files, and documentation reflecting geodetic findings and recommendations, assisting in the development and maintenance of geodetic control networks, collaborating with other technical staff and external agencies to support geodetic projects, providing guidance and support to junior geodesists and technicians as needed, and staying current with advancements in geodetic technology and best practices. The incumbent will be proficient in surveying and geodetic processing and adjustment software (e.g., Trimble Business Center, Starnet), CADD mapping and GIS software (e.g., MicroStation, ArcGIS Pro), candidate must possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills and demonstrate strong proficiency in both written and verbal communication. ***Applicants must be authorized to work for ANY employer in the U.S, we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time.
