Software Engineer

Optum is a global organization that delivers care aided by technology to help millions of people live healthier lives. They are seeking a Software Engineer who will analyze business requirements, design and implement software solutions, and develop AI-powered applications to improve health outcomes. The role involves collaboration with teams and requires a strong technical background in software development and AI technologies.

Responsibilities:

• Analyze and interpret detailed business and functional requirements from PRDs (Product Requirement Documents) and FSDs (Functional Specification Documents)
• Design, develop, and implement scalable and high-quality software solutions
• Develop, review, and maintain clean, efficient, and reliable code following coding standards and best practices
• Actively participate in defect triage, root cause analysis, and timely resolution of issues
• Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve complex technical issues
• Continuously enhance technical expertise by staying current with emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices
• Design, develop, and deploy AI-powered solutions to address complex business challenges with emphasis on responsible use of AI

Requirements:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
• 6+ years of proven experience in building scalable, high-performance enterprise applications using Java technologies
• 5+ years of strong expertise in Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) principles, design patterns, and software development, best practices, with a passion for hands-on coding
• 5+ years of experience with excellent problem-solving and debugging skills, with strong foundations in Data Structures, Algorithms, and complexity analysis
• 5+ years of hands-on experience with Spring Framework components, including MVC, IoC (Inversion of Control), and AOP (Aspect-Oriented Programming), along with ORM frameworks such as Hibernate
• 3+ years of proficiency in SQL, preferably experience working with Oracle Database
• 3+ years of strong expertise in creating high-level and low-level design documents, translating business requirements into robust technical solutions
• 1+ years of experience in working on AI technologies like: Generative AI, Github Copilot, Prompt Engineering
• Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional global teams in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
• Knowledge of US healthcare domain
• Experience in developing software products
• Experience in BRMS (Business Rule Management Systems) tools and technologies, especially with authoring rules in DMN (Decision Model and Notation)
• Exposure to AWS cloud and ReactJS
