Data Product Manager

The University of California, Riverside is seeking a Data Product Manager to bridge the gap between complex campus data and actionable operational solutions. This role involves collaborating with stakeholders to develop data products, overseeing their lifecycle, and managing data governance.

Responsibilities:

• Bridge the gap between complex campus data and actionable operational solutions
• Work closely with campus stakeholders and end-users to uncover high-impact challenges and envision modern data products to solve them
• Champion the end-to-end lifecycle of ITS data products—taking solutions from initial scoping and rapid wireframing to agile development, launch, and long-term maintenance
• Create mockups and prototypes to co-create solutions alongside users, while also authoring clear user stories for development teams
• Oversee day-to-day operations for campus data governance

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training
• 6 - 10 years of related experience
• Must pass a background check
• Advanced knowledge of business processes and procedures
• Advanced knowledge of related areas of IT
• Demonstrated ability to work with others from diverse backgrounds
• Advanced knowledge of business and process analysis functions
• Demonstrated skills needed to develop process and system implementation plans
• Advanced skills and methodologies associated with process and software design, modification and implementation
• Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills
• Demonstrated ability to communicate technical information to technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization
• Interpersonal and communications skills to work with both technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization
• Demonstrated testing and test planning skills
• Knowledge relating to the design of processes and software across the organization
• Demonstrated experience with process analysis, systems analysis, process architectures and systems analysis methodologies and practices including traditional waterfall, Agile, Agile Scrum, UML, UML Enterprise, et cetera
• Understanding and skill in complex process and systems requirement documentation standards, such as Use Case modeling, User Story creations and narrative description
• Self-motivated and works independently and as part of a team
• Able to learn effectively and meet deadlines
• Demonstrates problem solving skills
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills; adept at translating complex technical/data concepts for non-technical stakeholders and business needs for engineering teams
• Proficiency in producing mockups, wireframes, or functional prototypes to collaborate with users and discover final requirements
