GIS Software Engineer

Peraton is a next-generation national security company that drives missions of consequence spanning the globe. They are seeking a highly skilled Software Engineer with experience in designing, developing, and maintaining enterprise software applications, particularly with Esri GIS technologies.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, test, and maintain enterprise software applications with a focus on GIS solutions
• Develop scalable, secure, and high-performing applications using modern software engineering practices
• Build and maintain RESTful APIs, microservices, and system integrations
• Write clean, efficient, maintainable, and reusable code following coding standards and best practices
• Collaborate with product owners, business analysts, architects, and developers to deliver technical solutions
• Perform unit testing, integration testing, code reviews, and debugging to ensure software quality
• Troubleshoot production issues and implement performance improvements
• Create and maintain technical documentation, architecture diagrams, and design specifications
• Participate in Agile ceremonies, sprint planning, and continuous delivery initiatives
• Stay current with emerging technologies and recommend innovative solutions

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree and 12 years of experience or 16 years with a HS diploma/equivalent
• Solid software engineering experience developing enterprise applications
• Strong experience with Esri technologies, including ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS REST APIs, and ArcGIS Maps SDKs
• Proficiency in one or more programming languages such as C#, .NET, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, or Python
• Experience developing RESTful APIs, web services, and enterprise integrations
• Strong understanding of object-oriented programming, software architecture, design patterns, and secure coding practices
• Experience with SQL databases, Git, CI/CD pipelines, and Agile software development methodologies
• Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
• Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across technical and business teams
• Must be a US Citizen
• Experience with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure or AWS
• Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes
• Familiarity with DevOps practices and automated deployment pipelines
• Esri Technical Certification(s) are a plus
• Experience building enterprise GIS solutions in large-scale environments
