Mechanical Design Engineer

HukariAscendent is a Women-Owned, Small Business specializing in comprehensive engineering and technical support services associated with commercial nuclear power and other Department of Energy (DOE) nuclear activities. They are seeking Mechanical Equipment Designers/Engineers for remote, full-time contract positions to cover piping, equipment design, and mechanical engineering disciplines.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and detail custom process equipment: vessels, tanks, and specialty components for high-temperature molten salt service
• Build and review 3D models and fabrication-ready drawings in SolidWorks
• Apply design-for-manufacturability principles so equipment can be reliably fabricated, inspected, and maintained
• Support high-temperature piping layout, routing, and material selection
• Collaborate with process, structural, and nuclear safety engineers to ensure designs meet DOE and commercial nuclear codes and standards

Requirements:

• Mechanical Engineer — experience with high-temperature molten salt vessel or furnace design, and custom equipment design and fabrication
• Mechanical Piping Engineer — similar background to above, with experience in high-temperature piping
• Mechanical Designer — SolidWorks expert with substantial design-for-manufacturability experience; high-temperature experience preferred
• Prior experience in DOE or commercial nuclear facility design and construction
