Substation Protection & Controls Designer

Enercon Services, Inc. is at the forefront of the energy transition, tackling real-world challenges as the grid evolves. They are seeking a Substation Designer – Protection & Controls to develop substation designs and collaborate with engineers to ensure the safe and reliable delivery of energy.

Responsibilities:

• Develop electric substation drawings, including schematics, wiring diagrams, control panel layouts, and control building layouts
• Perform substation design calculations and analysis such as voltage drop and conduit fill
• Work closely with peers to ensure accurate and on-time delivery of electrical design that meets client and industry standards, specifications, and good engineering practices
• Providing on-site technical support for select ENERCON clients during construction and commissioning as required

Requirements:

• High School Diploma or GED required
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in Substation designing, with a primary focus on executing protection and control projects
• Familiarity with relay protection schemes
• Experience with MicroStation and AutoCAD
• Willingness to enter energized electric substations with proper training and PPE
• Must be self-driven in time management to meet deadlines and provide accurate deliverables, with the ability to communicate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders
• Must be proficient with typical office software including Microsoft Windows and Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Willingness to travel for client site visits and project meetings
• Experience working in electric utility industry, preferably in fast-paced consulting environment
• 500kV substation design experience
