Senior Manager, Mechanical Engineering

The Senior Manager, Mechanical Engineering oversees capital execution in the corrugated packaging business, managing project phases and ensuring adherence to safety and budget requirements.

Responsibilities:

• Manage all phases of capital projects
• Plan, organize, and execute projects within scope and budget
• Define project requirements, expected outcomes, and benefits
• Develop project scopes and ensure efficient execution of projects
• Ensure safety requirements are adhered to during projects
• Develop, implement, and execute the planned capital budget
• Work with Finance and Local Plant Management to finalize capital submissions
• Verify and forecast capital investment for individual projects
• Lead the Project Engineering team to implement the capital strategy
• Influence and lead direct reports to ensure project success
• Assess situations and provide direction to critical individuals
• Interpret technical information and summarize information for stakeholders
• Coordinate with outside contractors on project scopes
• Generate drawings, specifications, and project timelines
• Assist in developing new products for customers
• Provide technical direction during emergencies to reduce downtime
• Serve as a resource for key improvement areas at facilities
• Engage and develop team members for growth and efficiency

Requirements:

• 10+ years project management experience with capital projects
• Management experience in a similar strategy is highly desired
• The ability to travel up to 80% at a moment's notice. Domestic and international travel, as required
• Flexibility and passion to be on a team that does ‘whatever it takes' to delight our customers
• Proficient in Employee engagement and development of teams
• Proficient in the latest Microsoft Office Suite including Microsoft Project
• Proficient in AutoCAD
• Excellent time management skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills – ability to effectively communicate and create a shared understanding at multiple levels of the organization
• Organize, plan, and work independently with minimal supervision
• Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks in an active and fast-paced work environment
• Ability to complete assignments within established timeframes
• Attention to detail and accuracy in work and communication are essential
• Ability to interact collaboratively as part of a team. The ability to know when to lead and when to follow is important
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to draw valid conclusions
• Strong leadership ability along with high ethical standards – uncompromising on worker safety and regulatory compliance requirements
• Engineering discipline bachelor's degree preferred, but not necessarily required. Relevant experience will be considered in lieu of a degree
• Corrugated industry experience preferred
• JD Edwards preferred
