Software Engineer - AI Platforms

Figma is a collaborative design platform that helps teams bring ideas to life through design, prototyping, code translation, and AI. The Software Engineer - AI Platforms will build and maintain scalable AI platform systems, contribute to agent infrastructure, context retrieval and ranking, and core AI services, while collaborating across product, research, and infrastructure teams. The role also involves shaping platform strategy, resolving complex production issues, and mentoring engineers.

Responsibilities:

• Support end-to-end AI feature development by designing, building, and maintaining systems that are scalable, reliable, and performant
• Collaborate with product, research, and infrastructure engineers working across AI
• Help shape our platform strategy, roadmaps, and engineering best practices throughout the organization
• Debug and resolve complex production issues that span services and layers of the stack
• Mentor engineers and foster a culture of collaboration, inclusivity, and technical excellence

Requirements:

• • 5+ years of Software Engineering experience, especially in backend or infrastructure engineering
• • 3+ years of experience in one or more of: AI, search infrastructure, or developer platforms
• • Proficiency in TypeScript, Python, or Ruby
• • Strong system design skills and a track record of architecting resilient production systems
• • Excellent communication skills, with experience collaborating across teams and mentoring others
• • Prior experience in building AI infrastructure at scale, whether that be model training or serving platforms
• • Experience evolving large-scale, shared developer platforms to improve reliability and developer velocity
• • A proven track record of leading technical strategy and complex, multi-team projects
