Mainframe Developer with AI Experience

We are seeking an experienced Mainframe Developer with expertise in COBOL, JCL, CICS, DB2, and modern AI technologies. The ideal candidate will work on mainframe application development, modernization, and migration initiatives while leveraging AI-powered development tools to improve productivity, automate code analysis, and accelerate legacy modernization.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and enhance Mainframe applications using COBOL, JCL, CICS, VSAM, and DB2.
• Analyze, troubleshoot, and optimize batch and online transaction processing systems.
• Participate in Mainframe modernization and migration initiatives to distributed or cloud-based platforms.
• Utilize AI-powered development tools (GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Devin AI, Amazon Q, etc.) for code generation, documentation, debugging, and refactoring.
• Design and develop REST APIs for integrating mainframe applications with modern systems.
• Perform code reviews, unit testing, integration testing, and production support.
• Collaborate with business analysts, architects, QA teams, and DevOps engineers in Agile environments.
• Create technical documentation and support knowledge transfer activities.
• Ensure application performance, security, and compliance with enterprise standards.

Required Skills

• 8+ years of Mainframe development experience.
• Strong expertise in COBOL, JCL, CICS, DB2, VSAM, and TSO/ISPF.
• Experience with Mainframe batch processing and online transaction systems.
• Knowledge of Mainframe modernization and legacy application transformation.
• Experience using AI tools such as GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Devin AI, Amazon Q, Cursor AI, or similar to improve software development productivity.
• Experience with REST APIs, JSON/XML, and application integration.
• Familiarity with Git, Jenkins, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps practices.
• Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.

Preferred Skills

• Mainframe-to-Java/.NET/Cloud migration experience.
• Python or Java development experience.
• Knowledge of AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
• Experience with z/OS Connect, MQ, Kafka, or API Gateway.
