Backend software engineer

CirrusLabs is a niche digital transformation company focused on helping customers realize value through innovation and co-creating success with its customers, partners, and community. The Backend Software Engineer will architect, implement, and test backend APIs, software features, and product infrastructure using cloud technologies, serverless computing, AI tools, and microservices. The role also involves writing maintainable code, developing automated tests, and researching technologies to improve the development lifecycle.

Responsibilities:

• Architect, implement, and rigorously test backend APIs, software features, and product infrastructure
• Leverage serverless computing, distributed platforms, and cloud technologies to build robust solutions
• Utilize AI tools and Large Language Models (LLMs) to accelerate the design, implementation, and optimization of software architecture and code
• Write clean, maintainable code, comprehensive documentation, and robust automated tests
• Research new tools, testing processes, and technologies to continuously improve our development lifecycle

Requirements:

• 6+ years of hands-on software development experience
• B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science or equivalent field
• Highly proficient in Java, Spring Boot, and building REST APIs for software products
• Experience with microservices architecture and development including associated tools
• Familiarity with relational databases like PostgresSQL and MySQL
• Ability and willingness to quickly learn new technologies and work with Agile/Lean practices and scalable architecture
• Act as an effective communicator who can navigate conflict, influence project outcomes, and support the team through strategic thinking, creative problem-solving, and continuous feedback
• Hands-on experience building out cloud solutions specifically using AWS
• Frontend development experience, allowing you to comfortably step into full-stack tasks
• A background in life sciences, medical devices, or bioinformatics
• Experience developing regulated products under strict design controls
