Lead Full Stack Engineer – AI-Assisted Development

Cognizant is a digital services company that helps organizations build and operate modern technology solutions. The Lead Full Stack Engineer will design, build, and deliver scalable, secure, customer-focused software while owning full-stack feature delivery and using AI-assisted development tools. The role also involves collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders and implementing reliable testing, CI/CD, observability, and production support practices.

Responsibilities:

• Translate ambiguous business challenges into clean, scalable, and secure software architectures while anticipating technical risks, edge cases, and long-term maintainability
• Own full-stack feature delivery across services, data, and user interfaces, making pragmatic technology decisions that balance speed, quality, and business value
• Use AI-assisted development tools responsibly throughout the software development lifecycle to improve engineering productivity while maintaining accountability for code quality, correctness, and security
• Build production-ready systems with strong testing, CI/CD practices, observability, alerting, runbooks, and recovery paths to support reliability and operational readiness
• Partner closely with product, business, security, compliance, risk, and platform stakeholders to communicate technical trade-offs clearly and deliver meaningful business outcomes

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
• 12+ years of experience designing, developing, supporting, and deploying modern enterprise-grade software systems
• Hands-on full-stack engineering experience across services, data, APIs, and user interfaces
• Experience with technologies such as Python, Vue.js, AWS or Google Cloud Platform, Terraform, APIs, and cloud-native architecture patterns
• Demonstrated experience building reliable, secure, and maintainable systems using testing, CI/CD, DevSecOps, observability, and production support practices
• Ability to work directly with business stakeholders, build trust, communicate technical concepts clearly, and operate with autonomy in fast-paced environments
• Experience using agentic AI tools to improve development workflows, accelerate prototyping, and strengthen engineering feedback loops
• Experience designing quality gates, specification-driven development workflows, automated checks, and engineering standards that improve team output
• Ability to rapidly prototype solutions with stakeholders to validate ideas and accelerate feedback
• Strong product intuition and business acumen, with the ability to connect technical decisions to customer and business outcomes
• Experience collaborating across security, risk, compliance, platform, product, and business teams to deliver secure and scalable solutions
