Senior Software Engineer Technical Lead

Business Intelligence Solutions (BiS) helps manufacturers transform operations through innovative industrial software that improves productivity, quality, visibility, and profitability. The Senior Software Engineer / Technical Lead will lead and mentor the engineering team, drive software architecture and product innovation, and oversee the delivery of scalable manufacturing software platforms and customer projects. The role also involves software development, process improvement, customer engagement, and evaluation of emerging technologies such as AI, machine learning, IIoT, and cloud platforms.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the software engineering team through technical direction and mentorship
• Establish engineering standards, best practices, and coding guidelines
• Perform architecture reviews and design reviews
• Guide technical decision-making across multiple customer projects
• Promote software reliability, simplicity, maintainability, and scalability
• Mentor junior and mid-level developers through coaching and code reviews
• Foster a culture of accountability, ownership, and continuous improvement
• Design scalable software architectures for industrial applications
• Develop reusable software frameworks and product components
• Lead development of the BiSx software platform
• Standardize software modules for rapid deployment
• Ensure software follows modern object-oriented and modular design principles
• Drive consistency across customer implementations
• Identify emerging technologies that create customer value
• Lead product innovation initiatives
• Research and evaluate AI, machine learning, IIoT, MQTT, Unified Namespace, cloud technologies, and modern manufacturing software trends
• Translate customer needs into new software capabilities
• Help define the future direction of BiS products
• Lead technical execution of multiple customer projects
• Break large projects into manageable deliverables
• Estimate engineering effort and schedules
• Coordinate engineering resources across multiple priorities
• Work closely with project managers and customers
• Identify project risks before they become problems
• Ensure projects are delivered on schedule and within budget
• Design, develop, and maintain industrial software applications
• Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code
• Participate in architecture discussions and peer reviews
• Troubleshoot complex software issues
• Improve software performance and reliability
• Build reusable software libraries
• Improve engineering workflows
• Establish testing procedures
• Promote automated testing where practical
• Improve documentation standards

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• 8+ years of professional software development experience
• 3+ years leading engineering teams or serving as technical lead
• Strong software architecture experience
• Experience designing enterprise software platforms
• Excellent communication skills
• Strong organizational and project management abilities
• Proven leadership experience
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
