Senior Mechanical Engineer

AECOM is a global infrastructure consulting firm delivering engineering, design, and project management solutions across energy and other sectors. The Senior Mechanical Engineer will lead mechanical engineering efforts for medium to large industrial process and power generation projects, oversee technical deliverables and staff, perform engineering analyses, support procurement, and provide mentorship.

Responsibilities:

• Proposal Support: Support proposal development by creating deliverable lists, estimating engineering hours, and providing mechanical engineering input for proposal write-ups
• Project Leadership: Serve as the lead mechanical engineer on medium to large projects. Maintain responsibility for the development of deliverables, management of junior mechanical engineering staff, and coordination with other disciplines. Typical deliverables include P&IDs, equipment location plans, piping plans, piping isometrics, piping material specifications, mechanical equipment lists, piping line lists, specialty items lists, and construction scopes of work
• Communication: Coordinate with project management and other disciplines regarding design work, scope changes, engineering budgets, and schedule constraints
• Analysis: Perform and check engineering calculations, including equipment sizing, hydraulic analysis, and pipe stress analysis
• Procurement: Support the equipment procurement process, including the development of specifications and data sheets, obtaining quotations, completing technical bid tabulations, and reviewing equipment vendor data
• Travel: Conduct occasional site visits for proposal development, project walkthroughs, field data acquisition, design verification, and construction support
• Design & Modeling: Assist the design team with the development of the project model and system layout
• Resource Management: Assist the Chief Mechanical Engineer with workload distribution for junior engineers and manpower loading plans
• Mentorship: Provide feedback, mentorship, and leadership to developing engineers

Requirements:

• BA/BS in Mechanical Engineering or related field + 8 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
• Professional Engineer (PE) License
• Understanding of design, industrial process and energy projects
• Experience in industrial and/or energy-related fields
• Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
• 9+ years of experience in industrial and/or energy-related fields
• Familiarity with industry codes and standards (API, ASME, PIP, ANSI, ASTM, etc.)
• Experience with engineering calculation software packages (Pipe-Flo, Applied Flow Technology Fathom, CAESAR II)
