Sr Data Engineer

Kopius is a technology company focused on digital strategy, design, and engineering, helping partners innovate through high-impact digital solutions. The company is seeking a Senior Data Engineer with strong Power BI expertise to design and maintain data pipelines, analytical data models, dashboards, and reporting infrastructure while working directly with client stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

• Design, build, and maintain data pipelines and analytical solutions that support the client's business intelligence and reporting needs
• Develop, optimize, and deliver interactive Power BI dashboards and reports for business stakeholders
• Build and maintain analytical data models that enable scalable reporting and business insights
• Write and optimize advanced SQL queries to support reporting and analytics
• Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and quality across all reporting solutions
• Collaborate directly with client stakeholders to gather requirements, translate them into analytical solutions, and communicate insights clearly
• Implement data security best practices, including Row-Level Security (RLS) and Column-Level Security (CLS) where applicable
• Optimize Power BI performance — report design, DAX calculations, and data model efficiency
• Support version control and delivery discipline using Git and modern DevOps practices

• • Senior-level experience as a Data Engineer with a strong focus on business intelligence and reporting
• • Deep, hands-on expertise with Power BI — dashboards, DAX, data modeling, and report optimization
• • Advanced SQL skills, including complex queries, performance tuning, and stored procedures
• • Hands-on experience designing and implementing ETL / ELT pipelines
• • Strong data modeling and analytics fundamentals
• • Experience implementing data security practices — Row-Level Security (RLS), Column-Level Security (CLS)
• • Proficiency with Git and modern source control workflows
• • Currently set up as an independent contractor in the U.S. (EIN or SSN, ability to invoice, manage own taxes and insurance)
• • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or related field (or equivalent professional experience)
• • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
