Stormwater/Water Resources Project Manager

Apex Companies is a rapidly growing consulting and engineering firm delivering civil, environmental, water resources, and transportation projects. The Project Manager will provide technical leadership and manage municipal and private stormwater and water resources projects, including design, modeling, scheduling, budgeting, client management, staff supervision, and business development.

Responsibilities:

• Work as a stormwater and water resources subject matter expert and be responsible for technical project delivery and design, scheduling, budgeting, and client management
• Supervise and direct individuals or teams of technical staff on complex projects and/or multiple smaller projects
• Assist in the training and technical development of staff by various means including holding training seminars, providing technical guidance during project execution, and bringing new technical developments in-house
• Assist with strategic planning, training, proposals, and business development
• Consult with other technical staff and Project Managers on technical challenges in the stormwater and water resources discipline while also providing independent technical reviews on stormwater and water resources components of projects for other disciplines
• Oversee the technical accuracy of project through regular communications with project staff, review of plans, specifications, reports, and calculations to ensure compliance with the firm's standards
• Recognize the potential risks of nonstandard technical matters or potential legal disputes by participating in required project risk and insurance training to minimize the firm's liability
• Present project updates and technical information to the client and at public meetings to review and discuss project details

Requirements:

• The candidate selected for this position must reside near one of the following Apex offices: Quincy, MA, Woburn, MA, Providence, RI, and Glastonbury, CT
• They will have the option of working in the office full-time, working a hybrid schedule or working from home but they must be available to travel to local client and project sites
• Bachelor of Science Degree in an Engineering discipline
• 8+ years of related experience in stormwater and water resources, including design and project management
• Registered Professional Engineer in the State of Massachusetts, or the ability to obtain same by reciprocity
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with clients, staff, subconsultants and contractors through effective leadership, and demonstrated written and verbal communication skills
• Strong understanding of state and federal regulatory framework and experience interacting with regulators in the local and technical areas where Apex does work
• Have excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong desire to manage and mentor junior staff
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record
• We are open to candidates willing to relocate to New England
