Senior Supplier Development Engineer (Manufacturing Recovery)

GlobalSource IT is seeking two experienced Supplier Development professionals to support a major manufacturing organization with critical supplier recovery and operational improvement initiatives. The Senior Supplier Development Engineer will lead hands-on recovery efforts at underperforming supplier facilities, improving delivery, quality, capacity, and manufacturing performance through assessments, structured problem-solving, corrective actions, and leadership coaching.

Responsibilities:

• Lead recovery initiatives at critical manufacturing suppliers
• Identify production bottlenecks, capacity constraints, and scheduling issues
• Improve on-time delivery, quality, throughput, and supplier performance
• Conduct capacity, value-stream, and manufacturing process assessments
• Drive root-cause analysis and corrective actions using 8D, A3, DMAIC, or similar methodologies
• Develop KPIs, management operating systems, and accountability reviews
• Evaluate supplier staffing, organizational capability, and operational effectiveness
• Coach supplier leadership and manufacturing teams
• Assess longer-term supplier capability and capacity requirements
• Help establish sustainable Supplier Development processes and ownership

Requirements:

• 10+ years of manufacturing/operations experience
• Strong Supplier Development or Supplier Recovery experience
• Hands-on manufacturing floor leadership experience
• Lean Manufacturing / Continuous Improvement
• Production scheduling and capacity planning
• Bottleneck / Theory of Constraints analysis
• Structured problem-solving and corrective-action experience
• Supplier Quality and/or Procurement exposure
• Ability to coach and influence supplier leadership teams
• Approximately 75%, primarily to supplier manufacturing locations throughout the Midwest U.S. and Canada. Candidates should be comfortable with extensive weekly travel, generally Monday through Friday, with the potential for approximately one remote week per month
• U.S.-based
• Metal fabrication/assembly experience is preferred
• Central or Eastern U.S. candidates located near a major airport are preferred
