Software Engineering - Software Engineer IV

Mindlance is recruiting for a software engineering role supporting Reality Labs entertainment experiences for Meta Quest. The Software Engineer IV will develop Unreal Engine applications for Quest 3, including designing, coding, testing, documenting, implementing, and maintaining VR applications and interfaces, with potential backend development responsibilities.

Responsibilities:

• Design, code, test, document, implement, and maintain VR application programs and interfaces
• Devise or modify procedures to solve complex problems considering computer equipment capacity and limitations, operating time, and form of desired results
• Modify, install, and prepare technical documentation for system software applications
• Monitor systems capacity and performance, plan and execute disaster recovery procedures, and provide technical support
• Identify, escalate and document production impact issues
• Evaluate user requests for new or modified computer programs to determine feasibility, cost, time required and compatibility with current systems and capabilities

Requirements:

• Expertise with Unreal Engine
• Familiarity with VR devices and development
• Verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, customer service and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and manage one's time
• Ability to troubleshoot issues and make system changes as needed to resolve issues
• Knowledge of computer hardware and software
• Knowledge of end-to-end systems development life cycles
• 5+ years of professional development experience
• 1.Strong Unreal Engine developer
• 2.Able to rapidly prototype spatialized content
• 3.Experience using tools to measure application performance and diagnose issue
• Bachelor's degree in computer science preferred
• 1.Experience building for and/or using VR headsets
• 2.Knowledge about video playback fundamentals (video encoding/decoding, etc)
• 3.Experience creating and managing Unreal plugins
