Principal Data Science Engineer

Cytel is seeking a Principal Data Science Engineer to support software innovation in biostatistical applications using artificial intelligence and machine learning. The role involves leading research and development, solving complex clinical development problems, providing technical support, and collaborating across software products and with pharmaceutical customers.

Responsibilities:

• Significant data analysis experience using R and or Python
• Interest in continuing to develop analytical and business development skills
• 10+ years relevant work experience with applying analytics or working with data in a medical science
• Enthusiastic about solving complex problems with a variety of analytical tools
• Leadership or management experience including project management in analytical or data driven field
• Strong experience with statistical analytical techniques, data mining, and predictive models
• Experience with optimization modelling, machine learning, forecasting and/or natural language processing
• Ability to understand business significance of the data, work with data with significant ambiguity, develop creative approaches to analytical problems, and interpret data and results from a business/industry perspective
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Clinical trial simulation experience is an asset
• Professional services, consulting, or advisory experience is an asset
• Experience with Could ML (AWS, GCP, Azure), or similar tools is an asset

• Advanced degree (MSc, equivalent or higher) in Statistics, Data Analytics, Applied Mathematics, Mathematical Physics, Computer Science, or related field is required
• 10+ years of experience working in the development of scientific software
• Exceptional R programming skills and expertise in the development and implementation of statistical procedures for clinical development
• Must be able to work independently
• Outstanding communication skills (written and verbal) and strong leadership skills
• Clinical trial simulation experience is an asset
• Professional services, consulting, or advisory experience is an asset
• Experience with Could ML (AWS, GCP, Azure), or similar tools is an asset
• Proficiency in languages or tools other than R (e.g., Python, C++, Shiny, Markdown, Unix/Linux and git)
