Managing Director, US Market Access

Avalere Health is seeking a commercially driven Managing Director for its US Market Access practice. The role focuses on growing the practice through business development and senior client relationships, while leading client solutions and delivery across market access, reimbursement, and commercialization.

Responsibilities:

• Own an annual personal sales goal of $2M by building and maintaining a qualified pipeline, originating and advancing opportunities, leading proposals and pitches, converting opportunities into signed engagements, and expanding relationships within existing accounts
• Build and actively manage a robust pipeline of new and expanded business
• Develop relationships with senior decision-makers, identify and qualify opportunities, shape differentiated solutions, lead proposals and pitches, negotiate scopes and commercial terms, and maintain disciplined follow-through from initial outreach through close
• Conceptualize the scope of projects for clients, assemble a cross-functional team, and oversee the team from project initiation through client delivery
• Own and grow a portfolio of clients by building trusted relationships with senior decision-makers, identifying unmet needs, bringing the full breadth of Avalere Health’s knowledge and expertise to each account, and converting strong delivery into repeat and expanded engagements
• Serve as a subject matter expert on reimbursement, market access and commercialization related issues impacting the pharmaceutical, biotech, medical device, diagnostic, payer, and provider industries
• Create strategic and tactical recommendations for clients to ensure optimal market access for client products
• Independently lead solutions to complex client issues in a timely and appropriate manner, with support from junior team members
• Build market visibility and generate qualified opportunities by securing speaking engagements, developing relationships with clients and industry thought leaders, and converting thought leadership into new business and revenue for Avalere Health
• Collaborate with other Advisory teams (Global Market Access, Policy, Evidence and Strategy, and SenseLab) and Avalere Health business units (Marketing/Agency of Record, Medical Communications, and Global) to identify cross-practice opportunities, develop integrated solutions, and jointly pursue and win new business
• Mentor, supervise, and train team members across the Advisory business

Requirements:

• 10+ years of relevant healthcare, life sciences, or other industry experience
• Examples of relevant work experience include: consulting firms, diagnostics and/or pharmaceutical manufacturers, clinical laboratories with specialty in molecular diagnostics, and the healthcare industry at large
• 6+ years of market access, reimbursement and/or commercialization experience
• 4+ years of consulting experience with direct business development accountability and a demonstrated record of originating opportunities, leading proposals and pitches, closing new business, and expanding client accounts against individual sales goals
• Demonstrated record of driving sustained revenue growth in a consulting or professional services environment, including building a qualified pipeline, originating and closing new client opportunities, expanding existing accounts, and consistently achieving individual sales targets
• 5+ years of management/supervisory experience with excellent leadership/ mentoring skills in developing and coaching staff
• PharmD or other biologic sciences or healthcare policy advanced degree
