Analytics Engineer II

Taxwell is seeking an Analytics Engineer II to transform raw data into clean, reliable datasets that support reporting, analytics, and business decisions. The role focuses on SQL-based transformation workflows in cloud data warehouses and includes partnering with stakeholders to define requirements and metrics.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and optimize SQL transformations, reusable data models, and analytics-ready datasets
• Work directly with business stakeholders to gather requirements, clarify business rules, and define consistent metrics
• Build and maintain transformation workflows within a cloud data warehouse
• Investigate data discrepancies, troubleshoot performance issues, and implement data quality checks
• Collaborate with data engineers, analysts, and other teams to deliver reliable data solutions
• Use AI-assisted development tools to support coding, testing, troubleshooting, and documentation
• Maintain clear documentation and participate in code reviews and continuous improvement

Requirements:

• Typically 4–6 years of relevant experience in analytics engineering, SQL-based data transformation, data modeling, or a related field
• Strong hands-on SQL experience, including complex queries, transformations, and performance optimization
• Experience transforming, cleansing, and modeling data within Snowflake or a comparable cloud data warehouse
• Demonstrated experience working directly with business stakeholders to gather requirements, define business rules, and translate business needs into technical solutions
• Experience troubleshooting data discrepancies, implementing data quality checks, and validating transformations
• Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or similar technologies
• dbt, Tableau, Fivetran, Python, AWS, dimensional modeling, and semantic layers
