Sr. Specialist, Software Development & Engineering

CoverMyMeds is seeking a senior software engineer to design, build, and evolve scalable cloud-native platforms, contribute to distributed systems architecture and delivery, and mentor engineers while promoting software engineering best practices.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, test, and deploy scalable software solutions across frontend and backend systems
• Lead the implementation of complex features and services within distributed, cloud-based architectures
• Translate product and business requirements into thoughtful technical designs and implementation plans
• Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and designers throughout the software development lifecycle
• Drive engineering best practices, including code quality, testing, observability, security, and maintainability
• Conduct code reviews and provide technical guidance to fellow engineers
• Identify technical risks early and help teams develop effective mitigation strategies
• Contribute to architectural decisions and help establish patterns that enable long-term platform scalability
• Champion continuous improvement through refinement of development processes, tooling, and team practices
• Mentor engineers through technical leadership, coaching, and knowledge sharing
• Evaluate and adopt emerging development tools and practices that improve engineering efficiency and product quality

Requirements:

• Degree or equivalent and typically requires 7+ years of relevant experience
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience
• Strong experience building and maintaining production-grade applications in a collaborative team environment
• 5+ years of experience with modern frontend technologies such as React, TypeScript, or similar frameworks
• 5+ years of experience developing backend services using C# and .NET technologies
• Experience designing and integrating RESTful APIs and/or GraphQL services
• Experience with distributed systems, microservices, and event-driven architectures
• Experience working with cloud platforms, preferably Microsoft Azure
• Strong understanding of containerization and orchestration technologies, including Docker and Kubernetes
• Experience with relational databases, preferably PostgreSQL
• Experience implementing automated testing strategies and working with modern testing frameworks
• Strong software design, debugging, and problem-solving skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to influence technical direction and collaborate effectively across teams
• Priority will be given to candidates who reside in the Columbus, OH Metropolitan area

• Experience with asynchronous processing technologies such as Kafka, Redis, or similar messaging and event-streaming platforms
• Experience building highly available, scalable SaaS applications
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and modern DevOps practices
• Experience using GitHub, GitHub Actions, and related development tooling
• Practical experience using AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, or similar tools to enhance productivity and accelerate development workflows
• Experience defining requirements, acceptance criteria, and technical specifications that improve delivery quality and team alignment
• Experience participating in architecture reviews, design reviews, and cross-functional planning initiatives
• Experience working within Agile product development teams
