SAP Basis Administrator - REMOTE

Senior SAP Basis Administrator supporting a large, complex, and business-critical SAP landscape across multiple business units. This senior technical role is responsible for SAP Basis architecture, administration, lifecycle management, and operational support across on-premises, cloud, and hybrid environments. Success in this role requires deep SAP Basis expertise, strong technical judgment, and the ability to work effectively across infrastructure, network, firewall, development, cloud, and operations teams to maintain secure, resilient, and high-performing SAP platforms.

This position participates in a rotating 24/7 on-call schedule.

Key Responsibilities

• Architecture and strategy: Design scalable, secure, and highly available SAP infrastructure across on-premises, cloud, and hybrid environments. Help establish technical standards and align platform roadmaps, upgrades, and maintenance with business objectives.
• Technical leadership: Provide expert guidance to junior and mid-level SAP Basis administrators, promote operational best practices, and coordinate work across internal teams, external partners, and service providers.
• SAP platform administration: Install, configure, administer, monitor, and maintain SAP systems and supporting technologies, including SAP S/4HANA, NetWeaver, HANA, Oracle, and associated enterprise applications.
• Performance and capacity management: Conduct system health checks, capacity planning, workload analysis, and performance tuning across SAP application, database, operating system, and infrastructure layers.
• Availability and recovery: Develop, test, and maintain backup, restore, high-availability, disaster-recovery, and failover procedures to support business continuity requirements.
• Incident and problem management: Lead diagnosis and resolution of complex P1 and P2 incidents, coordinate technical recovery efforts, perform root-cause analysis, and implement preventive and corrective actions.
• Migrations and upgrades: Lead SAP S/4HANA conversions, database migrations to HANA, system refreshes, client copies, landscape transformations, kernel upgrades, Support Package Stack updates, and other lifecycle activities.
• Cross-functional collaboration: Partner closely with network engineering, firewall, infrastructure, database, development, cloud, and operations teams to coordinate administration, resolve complex issues, and support reliable SAP platform operations.
• Vendor and platform coordination: Work directly with internal and external operations teams on the administration, support, and lifecycle management of contracted SAP systems.
• Security and compliance: Maintain secure SAP technical configurations and support patching, vulnerability remediation, audit readiness, access controls, and compliance with enterprise policies.
• Documentation and operational discipline: Maintain accurate technical documentation, operational procedures, support records, and knowledge-sharing materials that strengthen team capability and support continuity.

Required Qualifications

• Experience: 8 or more years of information technology experience, including at least 5 years in a senior SAP Basis and SAP HANA support role.
• SAP platform expertise: Strong hands-on experience administering SAP S/4HANA or SAP ECC, SAP HANA, and SAP NetWeaver.
• Technical operations: Experience with installations, upgrades, patching, system refreshes, transport management, monitoring, troubleshooting, performance tuning, and major incident resolution.
• Infrastructure and resilience: Working knowledge of Oracle and SAP HANA databases, AIX, Linux, and Windows platforms, and backup, recovery, high availability, and disaster recovery practices.
• Cross-functional effectiveness: Ability to work across multiple technical domains and partner effectively with adjacent teams supporting infrastructure, networking, security, development, cloud connectivity, and vendor-managed environments.
• Support coverage: Ability to participate in a rotating 24/7 on-call schedule.

Preferred Qualifications

• SAP transformation: Experience with SAP S/4HANA conversions, SAP HANA migrations, and SAP landscape modernization.
• Cloud environments: Experience deploying or supporting SAP solutions on AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform, or hybrid-cloud environments.
• Technical breadth: Broad experience supporting SAP products and integrations across complex enterprise landscapes.
• Leadership and mentoring: Demonstrated ability to provide technical direction, mentor team members, and collaborate effectively across functions.

Education
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related technical field is required. A master's degree in a technical field is preferred.
