Data / Reporting QA Tester

Job Description:

Our client is seeking an experienced Data / Reporting QA Tester to join their quality assurance team. This role will be responsible for owning backend data validation, data reconciliation, and reporting testing within a healthcare payer environment.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience validating data flows from backend systems through reporting outputs and ensuring that reports accurately reflect defined business requirements. This position requires a strong understanding of manual testing practices, the ability to develop and execute test cases, and experience validating data across systems.

The successful candidate will work closely with business stakeholders, developers, data teams, and reporting teams to identify discrepancies, investigate issues, and ensure the accuracy and completeness of data and reporting deliverables.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform manual testing of backend data flows and reporting outputs.
• Develop and execute test cases based on reporting and business requirements.
• Validate data as it moves through backend systems and into reporting platforms.
• Perform data reconciliation and result verification to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Compare source data against report outputs and identify discrepancies.
• Validate reports against business rules, requirements, and expected results.
• Investigate data inconsistencies and work with technical teams to identify root causes.
• Document defects, testing results, and validation findings clearly.
• Collaborate with business analysts, developers, data engineers, and reporting teams throughout the testing lifecycle.
• Support functional, regression, integration, and end-to-end testing activities.
• Help establish and maintain repeatable processes for backend and reporting validation.
• Take ownership of reporting and backend data testing activities while supporting overall QA objectives.

Required Qualifications:

• 3+ years of experience in Manual QA / Software Testing, preferably focused on data or reporting.
• Experience working within the healthcare payer / health insurance industry.
• Hands-on experience with backend data validation and data reconciliation.
• Experience testing reports, data outputs, and data flows.
• Ability to write and execute detailed test cases based on business and reporting requirements.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify discrepancies and investigate data issues.
• Experience communicating testing results and defects to both business and technical stakeholders.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with Power BI or other business intelligence/reporting tools.
• Experience with SQL and database validation.
• Experience testing data warehouses or enterprise reporting environments.
• Experience with healthcare claims, membership, eligibility, benefits, or other payer data.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
• Familiarity with JIRA or similar defect/test management tools.

Salary/Rate: $40-$60/HR (depends on experience level). This is a contract position with candidates expected to work 40 hours/ week.
