Senior Software Engineer

Optum Insight develops software-enabled services, analytics, and technology solutions that improve how health data, care, and services connect across the healthcare system. The Senior Software Engineer will design, develop, deploy, and maintain enterprise-scale software applications and AI-powered solutions, integrating machine learning, intelligent automation, APIs, data pipelines, and cloud technologies. The role also involves architecture reviews, mentoring engineers, troubleshooting production systems, and enhancing CI/CD and automated testing workflows.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and improve full-lifecycle software applications and AI-powered solutions to address complex business challenges with an emphasis on responsible use of AI
• Design, build, and integrate artificial intelligence capabilities, machine learning pipelines, and intelligent automation into enterprise software products
• Use enterprise-approved AI tools to streamline workflows, automate tasks, and drive continuous software engineering improvement
• Evaluate emerging trends, frameworks, and technologies to inform solution design, architecture, and strategic technology innovation
• Collaborate with software architects, data scientists, product managers, and engineering teams to define application requirements and solution specifications
• Conduct code and architecture reviews, provide constructive technical feedback, and mentor junior and mid-level software engineers
• Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve performance bottlenecks, model integration issues, and system defects across production environments
• Drive continuous integration, continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipeline enhancements, and automated testing for software and model workflows

Requirements:

• • Bachelor's degree OR 4+ years of software development experience
• • 5+ years of professional software engineering experience delivering enterprise-level applications
• • 5+ years of hands-on experience with Java and Spring Boot framework development
• • 3+ years of experience designing, building, and deploying AI-powered applications, machine learning workflows, or intelligent automations
• • 3+ years of experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs, microservices architectures, and data pipelines
• • 3+ years of experience working with relational or non-relational database management systems
• • 2+ years of experience working with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, or GCP)
• • 2+ years of experience integrating AI/ML frameworks, libraries, or APIs into production software applications
• • 2+ years of experience with continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) toolchains (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, or GitHub Actions)
• • Experience with Python programming for software development, data processing, or AI model integration
• • Experience with cloud-native AI/ML services (e.g., AWS SageMaker, Azure OpenAI, GCP Vertex AI)
• • Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes
• • Familiarity with MLOps practices, model monitoring, versioning, and automated testing frameworks
• • Experience with modern frontend frameworks (e.g., React, Angular, or Vue.js)
• • Experience working within the healthcare technology industry or regulated domain environments
