Design Engineer 2 - Specialist- Virtual, US

The Design Engineer 2 - Specialist supports electronic security system projects throughout the project lifecycle, from sales concepts and design development through construction administration, while collaborating with clients and engineering teams to develop technical solutions, documentation, budgets, and timelines.

Responsibilities:

• Contributor for complex engagements and works directly with clients and the Design Engineering team to develop specifications, designs, budgets, timelines and manage expectations
• Conceptualize system designs and determine system requirements
• Provide general guidance on security systems and coordination information to support the architecture, installation and planning of electronic security solutions
• Knowledge of and ability to use AutoCAD, Revit, BIM and/or MS Office 365
• Oversee and/or develop the Bill of Materials (BOM) and support documentation
• Ability to interpret 30%, 60%, 90% and IFC drawings during takeoff and team review processes
• Conduct Review Calls with internal and external teams to discuss BOM(s) and supporting documentation
• Ability to use complex pricing tools and adjust based off specific/changing requirements
• Understanding of IFPs, RFP, and RFQ requirements and schedules and the ability to build labor calculations
• Ability to research and produce security related product submittals
• Ability to learn and become proficient with ESS related programming matrixes
• Research, identify, and recommend technology options for clients
• SE may have client interaction and contribute to the P and L performance
• Project lifecycle is important and learning the standards our clients are comfortable with is just as important as selling new technology and solutions where they fit. The position bears the responsibility to develop long-lasting client partnerships & work with team members to maintain the account at all levels
• Maintains expertise in the industry through ongoing review of trade publications, participation in industry trade shows, seminars and educational forums. May author articles and/or analyze trends
• Attend appropriate manufacture training(s), attend or lead lunch and learn and continue online education
• Represent ESS Engineering in enterprise-wide initiatives and strategic discussions related to delivery, quality, and customer satisfaction

Requirements:

• • Associates Degree or equivalent professional experience
• • 5+ years' experience in system design
• • Detailed oriented, independent, self-starter
• • Exceptional time management skills with a track record for meeting deadlines
• • Excellent communication skills
• • Ability to analyze complex issues and communicate concise succinct messages
• • High level of problem solving and technical troubleshooting skills
• • 5+ years of experience in technical systems designing
• • High school diploma or GED required
• • Associate or Bachelor's degree required and/or equivalent experience
• • Proficient in AutoCAD, BIM and MS Office 365
• • Certifications or training with Milestone and Lenel preferred
• • Certifications or training with in Genetec, Avigilon and S2 preferred
• • Ability to get a government issued Top Secret Clearance (US-based only)
• • A clear understanding of project phases Program, Conceptualization, Schematic Design, Design Development, Construction Documentation, Construction and Commissioning
• • A thorough, demonstrable understanding of the construction process, installation and integration as well as architectural and construction drawings and specifications
