Cloud System Engineer III

GAMA-1 Technologies provides information assurance, information security, and enterprise and networking solutions to the Federal Government. The Cloud System Engineer III will serve as a GitLab CI/CD subject matter expert, designing, optimizing, and integrating secure, scalable pipelines within AWS. The role also involves troubleshooting complex cloud and pipeline challenges, establishing technical standards, and mentoring teams on modern cloud development practices.

Responsibilities:

• Architect, configure, maintain, and optimize GitLab CI/CD pipelines to support efficient application build, testing, and deployment workflows
• Partner with engineering teams to design and implement a scalable, secure, and standardized pipeline framework aligned with AWS infrastructure standards and organizational requirements
• Build reusable pipeline templates, modules, and automations to accelerate new project onboarding, promote consistency, and improve development efficiency
• Implement automated testing, quality gates, security scanning, and artifact management throughout the CI/CD pipeline to promote application quality, security, and reliability
• Integrate GitLab workflows with AWS services, including EC2, ECS, Lambda, EKS, S3, IAM, and CloudFormation/Terraform, to support automated and reliable cloud deployments
• Troubleshoot and resolve pipeline issues, performance bottlenecks, deployment failures, and other complex CI/CD challenges to maintain reliable delivery workflows
• Establish and promote CI/CD best practices, technical standards, documentation, and operational processes to support consistent and sustainable pipeline management
• Provide technical guidance, expertise, and mentorship to teams adopting GitLab CI/CD solutions and modern cloud development practices
• Use standardized processes to map business needs to available cloud technology options, including assessing potential risks and identifying appropriate mitigation strategies
• Develop tools, technical documentation, and support resources that enable support organizations to effectively resolve customer issues, including complex technical scenarios involving cloud architecture

Requirements:

• Bachelor of Science in Systems Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent technical degree or equivalent relevant experience
• 6 years demonstrated hands-on experience in GitLab CI/CD, runners, pipelines, and GitLab configuration
• Hands-on experience building CI/CD pipelines in cloud environments, preferably AWS
• Proficiency with AWS core services, IAM policies, networking concepts, and secure deployment workflows
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or AWS CloudFormation
• Solid understanding of software development workflows and version control strategies
• Ability to obtain a security clearance
