Grad Intern – Data Engineer – Amgen’s Technology & Medical Organizations (Summer 2027)

Amgen is a biotechnology company focused on developing and delivering innovative medicines for patients with serious illnesses. The Grad Intern - Data Engineer will work with product owners, architects, and functional teams to understand data requirements and design and develop data pipelines for the Enterprise Data Lake. The role also involves building infrastructure and analytics tools, automating tasks, and developing reusable frameworks and proof-of-concept solutions.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborating with lead Architects, Business SMEs and Data Scientists to design and develop end-to-end data pipelines and support infrastructure
• Building new infrastructure and analytics tools using Python, SQL and AWS
• Proactively identifying & implementing opportunities to automate tasks and develop reusable frameworks; participating in efforts to design, build, and develop rapid Proof-of-Concept (POC) solutions and services

Requirements:

• • Must be available to work a full-time schedule
• • Expected continued enrollment in an accredited college or university following the internship program / co-op
• • Student must be located in the United States for the duration of the internship program
• • Must be available to accept and commit to future full-time employment by July 2028, if offered
• • 18 years or older
• • Graduated with a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
• • Currently enrolled in an MBA program for an MBA internship OR a Master's program for a Master's internship OR a PharmD program for a PharmD internship OR Ph.D. for a PhD internship from an accredited college or university and completion of the first year of MBA OR Master's OR Pharm D OR Ph.D. program before the internship starts
• Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S. for the duration of this program
• • In the process of completing the first year of a Master's program with concentration in Information Technology, Computer Science (e.g., CS, CPE, SE), Engineering, Business, or related field
• • 1 or more years relevant work experience
• • Biotechnology, pharmaceutical or health care industry experience
• • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point
• • Strong interpersonal, project management, analytical and quantitative skills
• • Proficient in one of the coding languages (Python, Java, Scala, SQL)
• • Detail oriented
• • Demonstrated personal initiative, self-motivation, flexibility, adaptability and resourcefulness
• • Ability to operate independently, across functional lines, and with both internal and external customers
• • Coursework in one or more of the following areas: Business Systems analysis, Lean, Agile (SCRUM) and other SDLC processes, Software Development, Database Modeling, Web Design and Development, IT Management, Management of Cloud based application, B2B Collaboration, Enterprise systems such as configuration and management of ERP, CRM systems
