Data Engineer - 3-Month Contract Position

Alliance Mobile is undertaking a major V2 modernization initiative to rebuild its internal data platform, reporting ecosystem, and operational data architecture. The company is seeking a hands-on Senior Data Engineer to design and implement scalable ETL/ELT pipelines, improve data quality and governance, automate manual processes, and create the technical foundation for future reporting and growth.

Responsibilities:

• Designing scalable ETL and ELT frameworks
• Building automated ingestion pipelines
• Consolidating and organizing disparate data sources
• Establishing raw, staging, and curated reporting layers
• Improving data quality, reliability, and governance
• Reducing manual operational processes through automation
• Creating a maintainable platform that can support future growth
• Assess current-state data architecture and identify opportunities for improvement
• Design scalable ingestion patterns and data models
• Establish source-of-truth datasets and data standards
• Design frameworks for onboarding future data sources efficiently
• Help define long-term data platform strategy and best practices
• Design, build, and maintain scalable ETL and ELT pipelines
• Develop automated ingestion processes for multiple internal and external data sources
• Handle large volumes of data efficiently and reliably
• Create reusable pipeline frameworks that simplify future integrations
• Build solutions that support incremental loads, reconciliation, and data validation
• Optimize data movement and transformation processes
• Design and maintain Azure Data Factory pipelines
• Build orchestration workflows for ingestion, transformation, and data movement
• Create monitoring, alerting, and failure recovery processes
• Improve pipeline reliability, performance, and maintainability
• Troubleshoot pipeline failures and implement long-term solutions
• Support migration away from manual and legacy data processes where appropriate
• Establish data validation and reconciliation processes
• Identify and resolve data quality issues
• Ensure consistency across operational and reporting datasets
• Develop controls that reduce manual intervention and improve trust in the data
• Create monitoring processes that proactively identify issues
• Eliminate repetitive manual processes through automation
• Design scalable workflows and orchestration strategies
• Build repeatable processes that improve operational efficiency
• Develop systems that reduce operational risk and improve reliability
• Implement scheduling and dependency management for critical workflows
• Support migration efforts from legacy reporting and data processes into V2
• Collaborate with application developers building the React and Python platform
• Create datasets optimized for operational reporting and analytics
• Document architecture, pipelines, and operational procedures
• Establish standards that support future scalability and maintainability

Requirements:

• • 7+ years of Data Engineering experience
• • Extensive experience designing and building ETL and ELT pipelines
• • Advanced SQL skills
• • Strong Python development experience
• • Experience working with Azure Data Factory (ADF)
• • Experience building and managing large-scale data pipelines
• • Experience integrating multiple data sources and systems
• • Experience designing scalable data architectures
• • Experience with workflow orchestration and automation platforms
• • Experience troubleshooting complex data and pipeline issues
• • Strong understanding of data quality, validation, reconciliation, and governance
• • Strong communication and collaboration skills
• • Experience modernizing legacy reporting environments
• • Experience supporting sales organizations and operational reporting needs
• • Experience working with commissions, incentives, performance metrics, and KPI reporting
• • Experience building source-of-truth data architectures
• • Experience working in telecommunications, retail, or other high-volume operational environments
• • Experience integrating third-party data sources and APIs
• • Experience designing cloud-based data platforms
• • Familiarity with modern data engineering best practices and platform governance
