Software Development Engineer

The UVA VEC is seeking software engineering talent to support an advanced AI platform. The role focuses on developing Python backend services, integrating applications into secure evaluation environments, and ensuring reliable, scalable, production-ready software through testing, deployment, and troubleshooting.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain backend services and MCP servers using Python
• Build and integrate web or desktop applications into AI evaluation environments
• Work with REST APIs, backend systems, and service integrations
• Configure and manage Docker containers and Linux-based development environments
• Implement application state management and deployment workflows
• Test, debug, and troubleshoot build, runtime, and configuration issues
• Ensure software meets quality, validation, and production deployment standards
• Collaborate with engineering teams to improve platform reliability and performance

Requirements:
