Senior Software Engineer

First Citizens Bank is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to support its cloud infrastructure and operational resilience initiatives. The role focuses on managing multi-cloud environments, automating infrastructure operations, monitoring systems, handling support and incidents, maintaining technical documentation, and providing rotating 24/7 on-call support.

Responsibilities:

• Proactively manage and maintain cloud infrastructure, ensuring high availability and performance
• Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of cloud infrastructure, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups, live data feeds, and batch processing
• Develop Infrastructure as Code Modules and Scripts to automate operational functions and processes to improve eciency and reduce operational toil
• Triage all support requests and performing preliminary investigation for all reported issues
• Write knowledge base articles and runbooks for commonly asked questions or frequently reported issues
• Send internal and external communications for scheduled maintenance and high-priority major incidents
• Perform tasks with competing priorities and adapt to changing business needs
• Create, maintain and share technical documentation used by engineers and other team members
• Be able to adapt seamlessly to the organization and the customers we serve, demonstrate the ability to learn new skills and technology, and actively take part in ongoing training
• On-call Support - Provides 24/7 on-call support via rotations

Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Science, Electronics Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field plus five (5) years of experience in the job offered or five (5) years as a Cloud DevOps Engineer, Cloud Site Reliability Engineer, Cloud Platform Engineer, Cloud Infrastructure Engineer within a Large Financial Institution (LFI) in a multi-cloud environment or related occupation
• Requires expertise in multi-cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, IBM Cloud, GCP, and OCI) and enterprise scale deployments
• Requires proficiency in computer programming languages (Bash,

Python, Go, Powershell, Node, and Java), Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, ARM, and CDK) for automated provisioning of infrastructure for Operational Resilience

• Requires strong skills in Cloud Security, Cloud Networking, Containerization, Identity Management, regulatory compliance (SOC2, PCI-DSS, FFIEC, CIS, and industry standard compliance frameworks Cloud Security Alliance)
• Requires expertise in designing and embedding preventive and detective controls based on CCM v4 in CI/CD pipelines and GitOps workflows supporting Cloud Native and Hybrid architectures (Public + Private Cloud)
• Strong expertise with Cloud monitoring and observability tools for operational resiliency
• Requires intermediate experience administering Linux and Windows operating systems
• Must have ability to collaborate with Enterprise Architecture, CyberSecurity and Risk Teams
• Experience in large regulated financial institutions, ensuring alignment with Governance, Audit and Compliance Standards
