Senior Software Engineer

CSC is a global business, legal, and financial services company providing knowledge-based solutions to clients worldwide. The Senior Software Engineer will design and develop features for a cloud-based commercial tax software product, collaborate with distributed cross-functional teams, write and review code, automate testing, and mentor junior engineers.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate proactively with a distributed team, including developers, quality assurance, project management, and product management teams to deliver quality software in a fast-paced environment
• Participate in the daily standup to keep the team informed and on track
• Write quality code to create new features and resolve issues
• Peer review your colleagues’ code and suggest improvements. Testing is a shared responsibility, including unit testing and integration testing automation
• Remain up to date with cutting-edge technology and experiment with and learn new technologies, including recommending and implementing those technologies
• This is a versatile role that will require diving into many areas. Even if you don’t have direct experience, you should be comfortable with uncertainty and be excited to learn
• Coach and mentor more junior software engineers
• Develop and maintain software applications using React, Next.js, and .NET frameworks
• Utilize Docker for containerization and deploy applications on Azure cloud platform
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand requirements and deliver high-quality solutions
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues, ensuring smooth system operations
• Conduct code reviews and provide constructive feedback to improve code quality
• Stay updated with the latest technologies and industry trends, proposing innovative solutions
• Mentor and guide junior team members, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing
• Ensure code meets performance, security, and scalability standards
• Document and maintain comprehensive software documentation
• Actively participate in project planning and provide accurate estimates for development tasks

Requirements:

• • 6+ years of full stack software design and development experience
• • Experience with C#, .NET, ASP.NET, Typescript, React
• • Experience with Cloud providers such as Azure, AWS or Google Cloud
• • Experience with Microservice-based architecture
• • Familiarity with Containerization using Docker, Kubernetes, Azure Container Apps, or Azure K8 Service
• • Excellent problem-solving skills
• • Ability to program and work independently
• • Good verbal and written communication skills
• • A passion for software product development
• • Expertise with object-oriented design, patterns, and programming
• • Expertise with unit and integration testing of code
• • Ability, willingness, and motivation to learn and grow in an organization
• • Willingness to learn from mistakes, adapt, and improve

• • Track record of delivering high-quality work in a fast-paced environment

• • 5+ years of experience in software development, with a strong focus on React, Next.js, and .NET
• • Proficiency in Docker containerization and Azure deployment is a must
• • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing requirements
• • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a proven track record of working effectively in a team
• • Experience with agile development methodologies and a commitment to continuous improvement
• • Familiarity with cloud computing concepts and best practices is an asset
• • Knowledge of software design patterns and best practices for scalable and maintainable code
• • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
• • A passion for technology and a desire to stay updated with the latest industry advancements
• • Experience with modern front-end frameworks such as Next.js, Vue.js, Svelte is a plus
• • Azure is a plus
• • A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field is preferred
