Senior Manager - Software Engineering (Health100 Platform)

CVS Health is a healthcare company focused on creating a more connected, convenient, and compassionate health experience. The Senior Manager, Software Engineering will lead teams developing scalable cloud-native and AI-enabled capabilities for the Health100 consumer health platform, while driving architecture, talent development, delivery, governance, and cross-functional innovation.

Responsibilities:

• Technical & Architectural Leadership: Design, oversee, and evolve scalable distributed systems, APIs, and AI-enabled platform capabilities, ensuring solutions meet current and future business needs
• Team & Talent Development: Recruit, mentor, and retain high-performing engineers while fostering a culture of innovation, continuous learning, and adoption of modern engineering and AI-assisted development practices
• Execution & Ownership: Lead engineering initiatives end-to-end, from strategy and prioritization through delivery, on complex, high-visibility projects while driving measurable business outcomes
• Performance, Risk & Governance: Establish KPIs and OKRs, proactively mitigate risks, ensure operational excellence, and promote secure, compliant, and responsible use of AI technologies
• Collaboration & Innovation: Partner across engineering, product, design, security, analytics, and business teams while staying current on emerging technologies, including Generative AI, machine learning, and intelligent automation

Requirements:

• 8+ years of software engineering experience, including 3+ years managing and growing high-performing engineering teams in Agile, cloud-native environments
• Strong hands-on technical foundation in Java and microservices architecture
• 5+ years of cloud development experience (GCP preferred), with the ability to guide architecture decisions and evaluate engineering tradeoffs
• Proven ability to lead teams through the full software delivery lifecycle from discovery and design through deployment and production operations at scale
• Experience delivering modern platform capabilities and leveraging AI-powered technologies, large language models (LLMs), intelligent automation, or data-driven solutions to improve business outcomes
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, related field, or equivalent experience (High School diploma plus 4 years relevant work experience)
• Experience in Healthcare, Retail, or Pharmacy domains
• Strong development experience in Java, microservices, and end-to-end software delivery
• Experience designing or delivering intelligent orchestration platforms, multi-agent workflows, or knowledge-driven systems that leverage AI to automate and optimize business processes
• Familiarity with modern AI application architectures, including LLM orchestration, Model Context Protocol (MCP), agentic workflows, vector search, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and AI governance practices
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Kubernetes/Docker, observability, and DevOps practices
