Civil Engineer - Land Development

BKF is a multi-service infrastructure consulting firm providing civil engineering, construction management, environmental, planning, and surveying services. The Civil Engineer will lead land development project delivery, provide technical leadership, manage project scope and budgets, coordinate with clients and stakeholders, and mentor junior staff.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the design and delivery of land development projects including residential, commercial, mixed-use, industrial, and public infrastructure developments
• Prepare and oversee grading, drainage, stormwater, utility, and roadway improvement plans
• Develop technical reports, studies, specifications, quantity takeoffs, and cost estimates
• Manage project scope, schedules, budgets, invoicing, and resource allocation to ensure successful project delivery
• Serve as a primary client contact and coordinate with agencies, consultants, and project stakeholders
• Provide technical leadership, QA/QC review, and mentorship to engineering and design staff
• Support entitlement, permitting, and construction-phase services as needed
• Maintain knowledge of applicable Federal, State, County, and local design standards and regulations

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program or equivalent
• PE license required (California PE preferred)
• 7+ years of progressively responsible experience in land development engineering
• Strong experience in site development design, including grading, drainage, utility infrastructure, and roadway improvements
• Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D required
• Demonstrated project management experience, including budgeting, scheduling, and client coordination
• Strong technical, communication, and leadership skills
• Experience mentoring junior staff and coordinating multidisciplinary teams
• Must be able to regularly talk, hear and operate a computer, keyboard and mouse and occasionally lift, pull/push and carry up to 20 pounds with accommodations
• Travel to other BKF locations and client sites may be required
• California PE preferred
