Senior Automotive Mechanical Design Engineer – Siemens NX

Automotive Consulting Services, Inc. provides product-development, engineering, emissions-compliance, and business-consulting services to automotive aftermarket and low-volume OEM clients. The Senior Automotive Mechanical Design Engineer will develop production-intent 3D models, assemblies, and engineering drawings using Siemens NX, while supporting automotive product-development programs from concept through production. The role also involves design reviews, tolerance analysis, manufacturability evaluation, technical communication, and coordination with clients, suppliers, prototype shops, and manufacturers.

Responsibilities:

• Create and modify production-intent 3D models, assemblies, and detailed engineering drawings using Siemens NX
• Develop mechanical components and assemblies for automotive and related vehicle applications
• Translate concepts, sketches, packaging constraints, reference geometry, and technical requirements into practical engineering designs
• Evaluate component packaging, interfaces, clearances, tolerances, materials, and manufacturing requirements
• Apply geometric dimensioning and tolerancing principles as appropriate
• Perform tolerance analyses and identify potential fit, function, assembly, and manufacturing issues
• Incorporate design feedback and manage drawing and model revisions
• Support design reviews and clearly communicate design rationale, risks, assumptions, and unresolved issues
• Work with ACS personnel, clients, suppliers, prototype shops, and manufacturers to improve manufacturability and resolve technical issues
• Prepare and maintain engineering documentation, including drawings, bills of materials, design records, and revision information
• Manage assigned work independently while meeting agreed-upon schedules and deliverables
• Protect confidential client information and comply with ACS data-security and document-control requirements

Requirements:

• • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related technical discipline, or equivalent directly applicable professional experience
• • At least five years of engineering or product-development experience in the automotive industry
• • Demonstrated professional proficiency using Siemens NX for mechanical design
• • Experience creating complex 3D parts and assemblies and releasing accurate engineering drawings
• • Strong understanding of mechanical-design fundamentals, materials, manufacturing processes, fits, tolerances, and GD&T
• • Ability to identify and resolve packaging, assembly, durability, and manufacturability concerns
• • Ability to interpret technical requirements and complete assignments with limited day-to-day supervision
• • Strong written and verbal communication skills
• • Reliable computer equipment capable of running Siemens NX and supporting remote collaboration
• • Availability to participate in virtual project meetings during mutually agreed-upon U.S. business hours
• • Experience designing automotive powertrain, chassis, vehicle, or performance-aftermarket components
• • Experience with low-volume production and specialty-vehicle programs
• • Familiarity with machined, cast, fabricated, sheet-metal, molded, or composite components
• • Experience working directly with prototype and production suppliers
• • Experience with product data-management or lifecycle-management systems
• • Experience supporting projects from concept development through prototype, validation, and production release
• • Experience working as an independent engineering consultant or within a client-services environment
