Principal Software Engineer Lead (Kubernetes Product Platform)

Akamai Technologies is a cloud and edge technology company seeking a Principal Software Engineer Lead to help design, build, and scale its Kubernetes Product Platform. The role leads cloud-native platform development, shapes the engineering roadmap, contributes enterprise platform features, and mentors and collaborates with engineering teams.

Responsibilities:

• Leading the development of the cloud native platform built on Kubernetes and other cloud-native technologies
• Contributing to and helping shape the engineering roadmap by working with management and business stakeholders
• Contributing to enterprise features expected from a cloud native platform
• Developing best practices, knowledge sharing, and mentoring
• Leading and collaborating with engineering teams in an Agile environment
• Fostering an environment that encourages innovative solutions, rapid development cycles, and open communication

Requirements:

• Have 12 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or its equivalent
• Possess leadership experience in Cloud Native Platform Engineering, driving toward an enabled ecosystem of capabilities within our organization
• Have experience building and operating highly available, fault-tolerant, and scalable production services using Kubernetes and cloud-native technologies
• Demonstrate expert knowledge of the Go programming language and be comfortable leveraging Python or Bash for scripting needs
• Express expertise in networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, TLS, HTTP) and knowledge of Linux-based operating systems
• Have expertise leveraging CI/CD tools to achieve good software development practices
