2027 Student Internship (U.S.) - Mechanical Engineer

Bechtel provides a U.S. summer internship program offering students hands-on experience working alongside industry professionals on projects and initiatives. The Mechanical Engineer Intern will support plant equipment and multidisciplinary project teams through equipment selection, system design, sizing calculations, supplier design reviews, and engineering evaluations.

Responsibilities:

• Mechanical Engineering interns work in multi-disciplinary teams and provide support to the most visible aspects of a project – plant equipment
• Selecting and specifying equipment
• Preparing flow or detailed system piping and instrumentation diagrams
• Performing system and equipment sizing calculations
• Establishing facility design requirements and develop the system safety basis
• Reviewing supplier designs
• Preparing ventilation and instrumentation diagrams
• Performing corrosion and erosion evaluations for systems and equipment

Requirements:

• Currently enrolled in a four-year Bachelor of Science degree program in Mechanical Engineering at an accredited college or university
• Completed at least one year of undergraduate studies in the above field
• Possess the eligibility to work and remain in the US without visa sponsorship, now or in the future
• Ability and willingness to relocate and/or travel to domestic and/or international project jobsites
