Position: Senior Hardware Engineer (Embedded Board Design)

Location: Benton Harbor, Michigan (100% Onsite)

Experience: 7+ years preferred

Key Responsibilities:

• Design boards with microprocessors (e.g., iMX8, iMX9) and microcontrollers (e.g., ESP32, STM32). This is a must-have.
• Work with display interfaces including MIPI DSI, Parallel Bus, LVDS and HDMI
• Work with camera interfaces including CSI and USB
• Create schematics and layouts using Altium and/or Cadence
• Troubleshoot and debug hardware boards
• Plan and support lab testing for EMI/EMC
• Apply knowledge of certification and regulatory requirements (UL/FCC)
• Handle cost estimation, component selection and BOM creation
• Work directly with suppliers and vendors
• Lead electronics design and development, including component selection, schematic design, component placement and PCB sizing
• Perform layout design following high-speed interface guidelines, run signal integrity, power integrity and thermal analysis, and review Gerber files
• Design sensor boards (motion, light, accelerometer, temperature, gyroscope, magnetometer), calibrate sensors and integrate them with HMI modules
• Use communication protocols including SPI, I2C, Serial, UART, USB, DSI and CSI
• Coordinate with fabrication, assembly and integration teams
• Conduct board bring-up and functional, EDVT, thermal and performance testing

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering with related experience (7+ years preferred, 4 to 5 years acceptable for strong candidates), OR an advanced degree with 5+ years, OR equivalent work experience
• Experience supporting certification activities for multiple countries (FCC, IC, CE), including debugging and resolving issues during certification testing
• Hands-on hardware testing in a lab using oscilloscopes, signal analyzers and related equipment
• Experience resolving field-testing issues and verifying hardware use cases
