Senior Software Engineer

Buildertrend provides construction technology that helps construction professionals run their businesses and manage their operations. The Senior Software Engineer will design, develop, and deliver customer-focused software solutions, maintain platform performance and reliability, lead code reviews, mentor engineers, and improve engineering practices.

Responsibilities:

• Talk to our customers, and turn what you hear into technical solutions you drive through design, development, and delivery
• Write clean, maintainable code while maintaining high standards for performance and reliability as the platform scales
• Push back on solutions that are technically clean but don't solve the real customer problem, and make the case for the ones that do
• Lead code reviews and mentor engineers, helping strengthen engineering practices across the team
• Identify and advocate for improvements that make the platform stronger over time
• Communicate technical concepts clearly to engineers, product partners, and other stakeholders
• Contribute to planning, retrospectives, and other agile practices that support consistent delivery

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering or related field, or equivalent experience required
• 5+ years of experience building production software; taking ownership of problems from discovery to delivery, and driving solutions to completion
• Prior experience at a B2B SaaS company, ideally where you've worked through scaling and reliability problems
• Strong hands-on experience with React and C#/.NET
• Fluency with AI-assisted engineering, using it to work faster without sacrificing quality
• Strong understanding and experience with software design patterns and modern development practices (Agile, Scrum, etc.)
• Measure success by whether the solution actually works for the customer, not just whether it shipped
• Contribute to a strong engineering environment by sharing knowledge, supporting and mentoring teammates, and helping raise technical standards
