Sr. Electrical Engineer (Data Centers)

Jacobs is an engineering and consulting company delivering solutions for mission-critical facilities, advanced manufacturing, and other complex infrastructure projects. The Senior Electrical Engineer will support the engineering and design of data centers and other mission-critical facilities, including power distribution, UPS, emergency systems, grounding, lighting, and low-voltage communications. The role also involves design collaboration, quality reviews, construction support, and potential management of quality, scope, budget, and schedule.

Responsibilities:

• You’ll provide design work, contribute to team technical collaboration, perform quality reviews of design packages, and assist directly with other portions of the design process
• You may also interact directly with the client, owner, and contractors to assist construction on site
• You and the other members of your electrical design team will work closely with the broader multi-discipline team in a fast paced, dynamic, collaborative environment to establish design requirements and produce construction documents
• Your responsibilities will include engineering and design for data center facility power distribution systems, UPS, emergency systems, grounding, lighting, and low voltage communications systems in complex industrial facilities
• Design may also include retrofit of existing building systems to accommodate our clients’ continually evolving requirements
• Additional responsibilities may include the management of quality, scope, budget and schedule

Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering
• At least 6 year experience in engineering design of medium and low voltage distribution systems, building electrical systems, and campus-style power distribution including conveyance
• Professional Engineer (PE) license
• Extensive knowledge of and experience with industrial facility design
• Working knowledge of Revit or BIM software
• Solid working knowledge of NFPA 70 (NEC)
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• At least 3 years of data center facility design experience
• Analytical and problem-solving skills
• Forward thinking, eager to learn best practices, and contribute with innovative ideas
• Displayed ability to learn quickly and driven to broaden knowledge base
• Ability to collaborate and work effectively in a variety of teams, including multi-disciplinary teams
• Passionate about buildings and construction
• Experience in the design of large projects established on greenfield sites
